Keighley’s answer to Mark Ronson delivers a rather agreeable album of collaborations with other local musicians, vocalists and songwriters.
Some seasoned veterans – Helen Forshaw, Donald Ward – others new names to this scribe – Paul Heaton, Jasper Bolton.
The album’s title track is comparable to the late, great, Kirsty MacColl during her Latin period and is my favourite track.
That shouldn’t be interpreted that this collection of eleven tunes only includes one gem. No Siree, this recording positively overflows with greatness.
From the sixties tinged opener Threading Water, the jazzy Move On, the Scott Walkeresque Raindance, the Celtic Metal Forrest, to the Led Zep-like Gracile and Pink Floyd sounding Sub Zero – the standard never slips. Superb.
