Artist goes quackers for the Tarn
There's no ducking a new picture book published by well-known local wildlife artist David Binns.
He and wife Molly have published a 32-page of his paintings of waterfowl at Keighley Town.
An Artist at Keighley Tarn covers many years of visits to the popular local leisure spot.
The visits provided David with material for many of the watercolours he regularly exhibits and sells.
David and Molly, of Boundary Avenue, Sutton, for many years ran Brent Gallery in Cowling.
Before that they spent 13 years living near Lindisfarne Nature Reserve, where David painted waterfowl and wading birds.
The couple recently published a book of sketches of 1930s Skipton by David's artist father Dan.
David said the latest book came about because of Molly's understanding of modern technology.
He said: "For many years our family have been regular visitors to Keighley Tarn to enjoy the wildlife and the residents who have made the tarn their home.
"It is a place of enjoyment for elderly walkers and young alike. Feeding the ducks has always been a pleasure for children.
"For my part drawing the birds from the comfort of the car has provided much material for exhibition watercolours."
The book costs £10 including post and packing from David at Holmestead, 9 Boundary Avenue, Sutton, Keighley, West Yorkshire, BD20 8BL, by phoning 01535 632774, or e-mailing david@davidbinns.wannadoo.co.uk.
