ALBUMS: Mariah Carey, Johnny Foreigner, Tina Charles

Mariah Carey's's calling all her rapper friends as well as Bob Marley's son Damien Marley for E=MC2, her follow-up to The Emancipation of Mimi, desperate to prolong the street cred that album earned her.

In spite of strange lyrics in the single 'Touch My Body' and elsewhere, there are some definite Mariah Carey gems including new single Bye Bye which feels like a heartfelt Mariah song from her 'Hero' days.

Unfortunately, there's also a lot of showy warbling that the album really could have done without, especially on the opening track 'Migrate'.

Really this is an album of two halves, one being Mariah doing what she does best, simply singing amazingly well, and the second half being Mariah Carey trying to keep up her hiphop persona.

The first is successful, the second is not. An album only for existing fans really.

Johnny Foreigner -- Waited up 'Til It Was Light.

Indie artists, Johnny Foreigner have put together a remarkable debut album that consists of original, bouncy, pop-punk music.

Their uniqueness lies in the combination of both male and female vocals delivering lively and energetic songs,.

Totally aimed at a young audience they mix loud, chaotic songs like Sometimes, In the Bullring' with mysterious, eerie songs like Salt, Pepa and Spinderella and thoughtful, acoustic songs like DJ's Get Doubts'.

Johnny Foreigner seem to have covered it all. Is there anything this bunch can't do? They're sure to climb their way to the top quickly.

Tina Charles -- Listen 2 the Music.

Tina Charles returns to the British scene with an album full of funky, refreshed tunes, some of which you'll recognise, and some of which will sound so different you would swear Tina had written them herself.

'Natural Woman' is the first tune to get the Tina Charles treatment, and daubed with her syrupy vocals it becomes a powerful ode to womanhood whilst 'I Love to Love' and 'Kiss From A Rose' positively sparkle under Charles' careful, tuneful sensibilities.

The real stand out song, however, is 'I Can't Stand The Rain' which, with heavy drum beats and a refreshing accompaniment echos out as a truly uplifting track that shows just how good true British talent can be.

This album is so worth buying, I'd almost recommend buying it twice so you can give one copy to a friend.
