Sketch draw up CD launch plans
Maggie Boyle is on home ground when her band Sketch launch their CD in Keighley on June 29.
They've chosen the New Variety Club to showcase the self-titled album of folk-jazz-bass fusion.
Maggie is a renowned solo singer-musician as well as one third of female harmony trio Grace Notes.
For the past couple of years she has also performed as Sketch with Gary Bowie and Dave Bowie.
The band brings together one of Britten's finest traditional singers, one of its most respected jazz guitarists and a bass player of impeccable subtlety.
So says Nigel Schofield, a writer in local folk magazine Tyke's News, in his rave review of the Sketch album.
He praises he "natural confluence" of the three sounds on five folk songs, a set of reels and three non-traditional numbers.
"The whole album is the epitome of good taste," said Nigel.
Hear for yourself as Sketch play songs at the New Variety Club, Russell Street, from 8pm. Admission free. Phone 01535 661991.
