Canadian band The Once are performing in the region this weekend.
The trio are from Newfoundland, where ‘the once’ means ‘imminently’. They promise music with hope, tragedy and a sense of timelessness. Their set includes laments from the First World War, ancient ballads, and songs inspired by the struggles of sensitive people. Instruments include guitar, mandolin, fiddle and bouzouki.
See The Once at Fraser Hall, Cowan Bridge, Lancashire, tomorrow, 01524 272004, and Tosside Community Hall, near Skipton on Saturday, 01729 840272.
