My Newt Comedy is already popular in Bradford, Shipley and Skipton and opened at Kildwick last autumn.

The comedy club is now moving into Keighley with its debut at the Royal Oak in Damside.

Steeton man Daniel Kennedy, himself a stand-up comic, is organising My Newt in Keighley on Sunday.

He said: “Keighley has a great appetite for good comedy and Paddy and the team at the Royal Oak were really keen to give people the chance to enjoy some of the very best in stand-up.”

Sunday’s gig will be headlined by Peter Slater who has appeared on TV in Phoenix Nights, Ideal, Fresh Meat and Saxondale.

Peter, who also wrote his own sketch show Slaterwood, will portray the thespian Randolph Tempest during his Keighley appearance.

Daniel said: “The first time I saw Peter as Randolph I was crying with laughter from the start of his set to the finish.

“He was the first name I thought of when I started booking acts for this gig. I’m certain he’ll make a whole host of new fans in Keighley.”

Opening the show will be Mancunian act Big Lou Jones, who is one to watch.

Daniel said the night would also feature two of the very best up-and-coming acts in the UK – Eddie French and Chris McIlroy.

“This is the kind of line-up that pretty much ensures the laughs will start the moment the first act hits the stage and not stop until the headline act leaves.”

Doors open at 7pm and the show begins at 8pm. Tickets cost £5 from the bar of the Royal Oak.

My Newt Comedy is also at the Royal Talk on May 11 and June 8. My Newt is on Twitter @MyNewtComedy.
