The man from the Monkees will perform at Leeds City Varieties on September 25.

Michael Nesmith is touring the UK following the success in 2012 of his first UK shows in 30 years.

Nesmith, who wore a woollen hat while with the Monkees during the 1960s, is a producer, multi-instrumentalist and country rock pioneer.

For his seven UK gigs, Nesmith will be joined by a full band and will perform songs spanning his entire career, from his folk music beginnings through to the present day.

He said: “This tour amplifies and expands the notion started a few tours ago of Movies of the Mind.

“As an introduction, the songs are placed in a setting for the audience, just a simple straight-ahead notion of where the song might live: a setting like the setting for a gemstone in a ring or a bracelet or on a necklace.

“The songs and performances and arrangements remain the centrepiece, so it is an evening of music well played.”
