THERE’LL a party vibe at the Groovy Happening this month as organisers present two themes.

Spokesman Ann Wiles said: “Dance the night away in your jazzy, bright shirts and summer flowery party clothes after hearing a fabulous line-up of performers.

“The evening will end in big style when all the acts performing will hopefully get together on stage to perform a grand finale!”

The Loungers are the house band plus friends who perform regularly at the Live At The Lounge in Baildon.

Ann said most of The Loungers had been playing in bands for more than 40 years in one way or another offering a wealth of experience and playing a mix of music from the 60s to present day, rock, pop and funky.

Do Miss America are returning to the Groovy Happening just one week before the launch of their long-awaited new CD.

Groovy regulars are hoping to get a sneak preview of some of the songs.

Anne said: “It is easy to imagine Do Miss America - with their authentic take on heartfelt blues rock - emanating from some dust-blown Midwestern prairie town.

“Surprisingly, it’s the battered industrial wastelands of West Yorkshire they call home.”

Waiting For Wednesday, a Bradford-born-and-bred folk duo, offer heart-melting harmonies that have won them fans in and around the Worth Valley during recent gigs.

Ann said there would be a mixture of heartfelt originals and quirky covers of pop, rock, country and folk songs.

She added: “Their songs tell tales of love, loss, hardship, protest, standing strong and the importance of beer drinking women!”

Miss Ann-Marie Kelly said she was looking forward to the chance to sing in Yorkshire again.

She said: “What better occasion than at the Summer Party at Groovy Happening in Haworth?

“I will be singing songs by Randy Crawford, Cindy Staten, Whitney Huston and more to get the party started!”

James Kelly will present theSounds of Swing, becoming well-known for singing songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Roger Miller and Nat King Cole.

James promises to perform something different with the band at this month’s Groovy Happening.

The Groovy Happening will be at the Parkside Social Club, Butt Lane, Haworth, on Saturday.

Tickets cost £3 on the door, and there will be a disco and raffle. Proceeds will go to Manorlands. Doors open at 7.30pm.

The Groovy Happening will move to the Exchange Arts Centre, Keighley, on August 23 for a special night featuring Alter Skye, Mesa, Em Sargant and Rachael Hannah McCaul.
