A CHEERLEADER from Keighley has beat off tough competition to represent a highly regarded Leeds-based cheerleading club.

Siân Reid has been selected for one of the Aviator Allstars’ International teams for the 2014-15 season. She previously trained at Panache cheerleading school, in Bradford.

Siân's mum, Vena Reid, said: "Siân was successful in her tryout for Aviators and is now a very proud Aviator Athlete. It was extremely strong competition, but she was more successful that we had hoped. "We thought and hoped that she would get into a level five team, but she achieved a level six team which is amazing.

"Siân was jumping for joy around the house when she received her e-mail. We are all so very proud of her.

"This is a massive achievement and she knows she has a lot of hard work and dedication ahead of her. She is so excited for the future and can’t wait to get started.

“Also, she has been selected to join the International Team, Phantoms, which will go to Jamfest in January next year.

"It was Siân's dream to compete in America, so this truly is a dream come true. Aviators compete in America every year, so we’re sure she will get there with this school."
