GOTH-rock band Skeletal Family has announced that it will be re-releasing material from its 1980s album Burning Oil.

The news has been confirmed by Skels musician Roger "Trotwood" Nowell.

Burning Oil originally came out in 1984, and was Skeletal Family's first studio album. The band had been together less than two years when the album was released by the independent label Red Rhino Records.

Roger said: "As Burning Oil is 30-years-old this year we've been going over a lot of the older songs, so the set for our up-coming gigs will be based on them.

"We are also hoping to film us doing Burning Oil start to finish at some stage this year too.

"Cherry Red Records are looking to release an anthology three-CD set of rare stuff and maybe the BBC sessions. That should hopefully be out late this year or early next."

Skeletal Family was formed in Keighley, and was nationally popular in the 1980s. The group has collected many newer fans since it reformed in recent years, and plans to return to America following a successful tour there last year.

Roger added: "Our Promised Land Youtube video has had over half a million plays, and the friend numbers on our Facebook page has gone over 20,000."

The band had been due to play Alt-Fest, in Kettering tomorrow, (Aug 15) but the festival has been cancelled, with the organisers blaming a lack of funds.

Skeletal Family will instead be consoling some disappointed fans by supporting the post-punk group Theatre of Hate tonight (Aug 14) in Wolverhampton and again tomorrow night in Bedford.
