A BRISTOL five-piece group which has been on tour all over Europe and the UK is ready to impress at Bingley Music Live.

Ramona Flowers will play on the second stage on August 31 in Myrtle Park.

Named after the lead girl with the supercharged, seven evil exes in the film Scott Pilgrim vs The World, the group has been winning over many converts with its infectious indie, rock and electronica anthems.

A spokesman for the the festival said: "Lead singer Steve Bird’s voice sounds important to us at Bingley Music Live. If you were to put Bono’s voice through a blender with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, you’d probably be getting close. Fans of Radiohead and Mansun will really rate them."

The band's own "musical manifesto" states: "Sometimes you hear music and something about it instantly gets you. You get that tug.

"It’s a combination of the melody, the lyrics and that unidentifiable something else that just makes you go ’Wow.’

"Then as a musician you’re thinking ‘I want to do that.’ So that’s what we’ve been trying to do.”

Ramona Flowers' music includes singer Steve Bird’s incredible falsetto and a lot of emotion. The group shows that you don't need to be the loudest band at a festival to stand out from the crowd.

Steve says: “We've got some upbeat tunes, but we’ve got an emotional side which is where those gentler moments come from. We seem to be quite good at that.”
