A CHILLING autumn is promised by local actors at Bingley Arts Centre.

The town’s Little Theatre will present spooky play The Spirit Of Annie Ross and Agatha Christie classic A Murder Is Announced.

First up is Bernard Farrell’s comedy thriller The Spirit Of Annie Ross, which takes place after the Gerry Ryan Radio Show sets listeners an unusual challenge.

A number of people are asked to stay overnight in a house that may, or may not, be haunted by Annie.

Each participant has their own reasons for taking part in the challenge, and several psychological ghosts appear as the night progresses.

Personal demons are revealed in a play described as sometimes funny, sometimes serious, and dramatically frightening.

The Spirit Of Annie Ross is staged from October 20 to 25, and performances begin at 7.30pm.

A Murder Is Announced will be performed from December 8 to 13, and is based on one of Agatha Christie’s books.

An announcement in the local paper states the time and place when a murder is to occur in Miss Blakelock’s Victorian house.

The victim is not one of the house’s several occupants, but an unknown and unexpected visitor.

What follows is a classic Christie puzzle of mixed motives, concealed identities, a second death and a definitely determined inspector grimly following the twists and turns.

Miss Marple is on hand to provide the final solution, at some risk to herself, in a dramatic conclusion.

The crime theme continues into the New Year, but in a lighter vein, as the Little Theatre stages Inspector Drake’s Last Case.

The hilarious slapstick whodunnit, written by David Tristram, is set one dark evening at the home of Mrs Gagarin, following a screen and a gunshot.
