‘THE SUN’LL come out tomorrow’ sang the little orphan Annie.

And Keighley Amateurs are certainly hoping the sun will come out for their audiences this month.

The curly-haired moppet will belt out the famous song Tomorrow during performances of the musical Annie.

Young actress, Saffron Ingham, will help dispel the autumn gloom as she plays the title role during the spectacular presentation at Victoria Hall.

Keighley girl Saffron, 11, was cast following performances in The Sound Of Music, The Darling Buds Of May and Angel Cakes, as well as four years as a Sunbeam in Bradford Alhambra’s annual pantomime.

She is joined by a bevy of talented local girls playing fellow inmates of the New York City Orphanage, who suffer daily at the hands of the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan.

Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the orphanage doorstep. With the help of the other girls, she escapes to the wondrous world of NYC.

In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils the evil machinations of Miss Hannigan and her brother, Rooster, and even befriends President Franklin D Roosevelt.

She finds a new home and family with billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Louise Hindle, of Keighley Amateurs, said: “The show is a heartwarming comedy treat for all the family.

“With equal measures of pluck and positivity, little orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City.”

The story was presented with the aid of catchy songs, such as Tomorrow, Little Girls, Easy Street, NYC and Maybe.

Louise added: “The 14-strong group of orphans will delight the audiences with their songs, such as It’s A Hard Knock Life and You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile. The girls, chosen after very well attended auditions, are sure to make the show a huge success!”

Annie is performed at Victoria Hall, from October 21 to 25, at 7.15pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.15pm.
