COMEDY-folk group The Houghton Weavers are to perform at Bingley Arts Centre.

The long-established Lancashire group promise a wonderful evening of song and humour on November 8.

They have been at the forefront of the UK’s live music scene for more than three decades with a hectic concert schedule.

A spokesman said the Weavers cut their teeth in folk clubs in their native West.

He said: “Since then they have enjoyed non-stop success, with a great following at their concerts, and a large fan club with members worldwide.

“They have recorded 25 albums and can even boast a number one hit in Tasmania with their perennial favourite The Blackpool Belle.

“The Houghton Weavers guarantee a wonderful evening of entertainment suitable for all the family.

“Their experience in the business together with their style and professionalism ensures that, as their motto says, they will always Keep Folk Smiling.”

Bingley Arts Centre will host concerts by the City Of Bradford Brass Band on October 26, and the Pasadena Roof Orchestra on November 14.

Bingley Gilbert And Sullivan Society will present a concert entitled Up And Down The Line on November 9, featuring songs and music associated with Britain’s wars.

Bingley Amateurs will present musical The Pajama Game, which is said to sizzle with hit songs and positive energy, from November 17 to 22.

Coming up at the Bingley venue rock bands FM and 3 Lions (November 27), tribute act Queen II (November 28), and tribute group ABBA revival (December 18).
