THE NATIONAL Theatre’s award-winning comedy One Man, Two Guvnors is coming to the Grand Theatre.

The play, seen by more than one million people worldwide, will be at the Leeds theatre from November 4 to 8

Nicholas Hytner’s production tells the hilarious story of Francis Henshall who, fired from his skiffle band, becomes minder to Roscoe Crabbe.

But Roscoe is really Rachel, posing as her own dead brother – who's been killed by her boyfriend Stanley Stubbers.

Francis spots the chance of an extra meal ticket and takes a job with Stanley Stubbers – but to prevent discovery, he must keep his two guvnors apart.

Gavin Spokes takes the central role of loveable chancer, Francis Henshall, while Norman Pace will play Charlie Clench and Emma Barton will play Dolly.

The acclaimed production is based on Richard Bean’s version of Carlo Goldoni’s classic Italian comedy, The Servant of Two Masters and has songs by Grant Olding, performed by The Craze.

Producer Chris Harper said: ‘We are delighted to be bringing One Man, Two Guvnors to Leeds and hope that audiences here will find it as hilarious as they have in London.

“In London the play has just celebrated being the longest running show in the Theatre Royal Haymarket’s 192-year history.”

Gavin Spokes, who recently performed in the Almeida/Headlong production of drama 1984, has previously performed with the National Theatre in the West End production of One Man, Two Guvnors.

Norman Pace co-starred in the long-running comedy show Hale and Pace, and his stage credits include Charley's Aunt, Dry Rot, Murder by Misadventure, The Secret Garden and Chicago.

Emma Barton is known to TV viewers for her role as Honey Mitchell in EastEnders, and she has also appeared in Celebrity MasterChef and Spooks.

Fellow cast member Jasmyn Banks played Alice Branning in EastEnders, along with roles in TV’s Little Crackers, Sadie Jones and Life of Riley.
