A COUPLE marked 20 years as licensees at an Oxenhope pub by selling beer at 1994 prices.

And the £1.50-a-pint day went down a treat with locals.

The celebration was held last Friday (Oct 3), almost two decades to the day since Michael and Kathryn Roper took over the tenancy of the Dog & Gun.

"It was a brilliant night – I think people would like us to do it all the time!" said Mrs Roper.

"We wanted to thank our regulars for their support and loyalty over the years."

Mr Roper added: "Our customers are our livelihood and this was to give something back to them.

"We've thoroughly enjoyed our time here. You'd be hard pressed to find a better pub, in a better location and with a better clientele."

The couple have been in the licensed trade for about 25 years, previously serving as mine hosts at the Robin Hood, in Silsden, and the Royal, Crossflatts.
