THE GOOD ship Pinafore sets sail on a golden voyage from Haworth next month.
HMS Pinafore is the flagship production to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Haworth West Lane Baptist Amateur Operatic Society.
The Gilbert and Sullivan operetta will be presented on November 17 to 22 in a double bill with Trial By Jury.
The group’s origins lie with the church’s original performing group which, from 1948 to 1958, presented a string of G&S operettas.
Performances were revived in 1964, with membership thrown open to the wider community and the adoption of the present name.
Since then HMS Pinafore has been presented at least four times, along with numerous productions of well-known shows like The Mikado, The Gondoliers and The Pirates of Penzance
Many of these have seen brothers Terry and Michael Lofthouse at the helm, Terry as musical director and Michael as producer.
Michael promised his latest production would please both Gilbert and Sullivan purists and anyone else wanting a good night’s theatrical entertainment.
Tickets cost £10 for adults and £5 for children, except on the Monday night and Saturday matinee when over-60s can pay the reduced cost of £8. Call 01535 643425 to book tickets.
