A CROSS Hills student is playing a leading role in a new production of the rock ‘n’ roll musical Grease.

Harry Little, 17, has already been in several productions at South Craven School since beginning performing at the age of 11.

He will next week play Kenickie in Bradford performing school Stage 84’s production of the popular musical Grease.

At school. Harry is taking an A-level in Performance, with the intention of pursuing a career in the performing arts industry.

He has previously played Prospero in the Shakespeare Schools Festival version of The Tempest in Halifax.

He also performed at the Barbican Theatre, Plymouth, with Youth Music Theatre UK, presenting a fictional portrayal of the surrealist Salvador Dali.

Grease is Harry’s second principal role this year with Stage 84, after playing John in the musical Miss Saigon.

Grease will be performed at Yeadon Town Hall, from Wednesday to Saturday next week, starting at 7.30pm, with a 2.30pm matinee show on the final day.

The cast of 70-plus young people is mostly made up of current students from Stage 84, ranging in age from 11 to over 20.

There will be cameo appearances from three former students who have agreed to return to play Teen Angel, singing one of the show’s songs, Beauty School Drop-out.

The production marks the 30th anniversary year for Stage 84.

The show is directed by Craig Winward, who has worked on Stage 84 productions before, and the choreography is by Rebecca Cook and Sophie Gilbertson.

The musical director is Jim Lunt, with the show featuring familiar songs like You’re The One That I Want, Hopelessly Devoted To You, Summer Nights and Greased Lightning.

The musical was famously filmed in the 1970s with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in the lead roles.
