TOP KEIGHLEY band Random Hand is returning to a popular Halifax venue for the first time in five years.

The ska-metal-punk quartet will play the Doghouse tomorrow (Nov 14) along with Astral Plain and Niamh O’Leary.

Random Hand, who have played the Leeds and Reading Festivals, are promoting their recently-released third album Seething Is Believing.

The Doghouse is at the Arden Road Social Club, Halifax, from 8pm. Tickets will be available on the door.

Doghouse spokesman Michael Ainsworth said: “It’s five years since the band last played the Doghouse but those who saw them that night have never forgotten them.

“Without question Random Hand are one of the best live bands who have played for us in the past nine years.

“They’ve been requested to come back a number of times but for various reasons it’s not happened till now.”

Random Hand, who fuse influences such as ska, reggae, punk rock, metal, hip hop and dub, were formed in 2002 and became leading figures on the UK’s underground music scene.

Leading music magazine Rocksound has described the new album as a “truly hard-hitting record”.

The reviewer said Seething Is Believing represented the band’s finest effort.

The reviewer added: “Continuing to fly the flag for consistently solid horn-driven punk rock, the 300 shows in the two years since 09’s Inhale/Exhale has honed the band into a tightly-wound unit.

“Joe Tilston’s rumbling bass provides the blueprint throughout; the horn section adds depth rather than cluttering things up and Robin Leitch’s snarling vocal still comes loaded chock full with spite.”
