BROOKLYN alt-rock band American Authors play the Brudenell Social Club, Leeds, next week.

The four-piece outfit will perform on November 20 as part of a five-date UK tour which also takes in Manchester Academy 3 on Wednesday.

The band has been praised for using razor-sharp musicianship and natural mastery of songcraft as a jumping-off point for sonic exploration.

On their debut album Oh, What A Life, the band weave hip-hop grooves, Afro-Latin rhythms, dance-pop synths and Queen-inspired vocal harmonies.

A spokesman said: “They still stay true to a rock-and-roll energy and melodic sensibility that’s highly refined.”

The “sunny yet soulful” Oh, What A Life features American Authors’ breakout hit Best Day of My Life and follow-up single Believer.

The spokesman added: “The album is built on a magnetic sense of optimism that’s carried American Authors from their formation at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, through their down-and-out early years in Brooklyn to their current status as an internationally touring band.”

After the album’s release last March, American Authors toured the US with OneRepublic, and played the Reading & Leeds Festivals during the summer.
