A KEIGHLEY nursing home ensured its residents enjoyed Christmas by laying on a series of visits and entertainments.

Norwood House hosted groups which sang carols, recited prayers and gave out gifts.

The home's director Baldev Chaggar, said: "It is due to the support and dedication of these groups that we can proudly say the Christmas period has been memorable and enjoyable for all, especially the residents."

Among the visitors were a choir from Holy Family Catholic School, carol singers from St Mark's and Airedale churches and women from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Women’s Association of Keighley.

The home was also visited by Santa and it staged a Christmas party for residents and their relatives.

Mr Chaggar added: "We are extremely grateful to Lesley Stokes, who played the role of Santa, assisted by his wife Sheila.

"Lesley had tragically lost his father, who was placed in the care of Norwood House, in the same week as Christmas. Despite his sad loss, Lesley went ahead and played the part of Santa to bring happiness and joy to the residents."
