THE SOUNDS of South America come to Keighley at the end of this month.

Oye Santana is a five-piece Latin band specialising in the songs of guitar hero Carlos Santana.

Newspaper reviewers around the UK have praised the stunning performances and the amazing set of songs written by Carlos and others.

Robert Sas of the Ley Hill Festival praised a brilliant show by stunning musicians that proved the band were the “very best” tribute to Santana.

Oye Santana are playing the Exchange Arts Centre, Russell Street, on January 31, with tickets costing £12 in advance.

The previous evening sees a gig at the Exchange headlined by local melodic/alternate rock five-piece We Are Atlas, with Filthy Palms, The Jade Assembly and Aimee Helena providing support.

The Boss UK, billed as Europe’s premier tribute to Bruce Springsteen, will perform at the Exchange tomorrow.

Fans are told to expect all of Springsteen’s best-loved hits in a sweat-drenched, two-hour show boasting the passion, intensity and realism of the true Boss.

A spokesman said: “The party explodes from the blistering opening of Born in the U.S.A. and there’s hardly a let up until the audience themselves are exhausted from dancing and singing along.

“The band have to include a few of the slower ballads like I’m On Fire and My Hometown to allow you to catch your breath, and the show ends up being one huge party sing-along.”

The Exchange’s monthly free gig will see performances by Pent Ire, Sam Rothery and Izzy Wilkinson on February 5.

Slipnowt, described as the UK’s newest and fastest-rising tribute to Slipknot, perform on February 7.

Support comes from long-established Keighley metal band Kill To Gain.

Based in Newcastle upon Tyne, Slipknowt consist of nine seasoned musicians from other bands brought together by a love of Slipknot.

A spokesman said: “Expect everything you’d get from a real Slipknot show – masks, uniforms, pyros and of course beer kegs.”

The Exchange will host its monthly film night on February 12, screening the unique and imaginative comedy fantasy Being John Malkovich.
