KEIGHLEY Amateurs will next month launch a recruitment drive for their autumn musical The Producers.

Anyone interested in taking part in the show can meet the production team during a session on March 22.

Director Kevin Moore will talk about the comedy musical, which was a hit on both sides of the Atlantic.

Amateurs spokesman David Brett said: "We are looking for ensemble, dancers and people to take on the many smaller character parts.

"The show needs a big cast and we welcome old and new members to come and join in the fun. Strong singers are particularly welcome."

The Amateurs have already cast the to lead roles in The Producers, Peter Whitley as Max Bialystok and Matt Gardner as Leo Bloom.

New York producer Max has becomes impoverished by a string of flops, so he recruits timid accountant Leo Bloom to help him pull off Broadway's greatest scam.

Together they aim to produce the worst show ever and run away to Rio with millions, but they learn that showbusiness can always find a way to kick you in the teeth.

The Producers will be performed at Victoria Hall, Keighley, from October 20 to 24. Anyone intending to take part must be aged over 16 by October 20.

The recruitment session will be held on March 22 at 1.30pm at Keighley Amateurs' Aire Valley Studio, Lawkholme.

The Producers was created by comedy king Mel Brooks and became a smash hit on both Broadway and the West End .
