A POWERFUL, engaging drama set in the 1950s will be presented next month by Bingley Little Theatre.

The Thrill Of Love is based on the real-life story of Ruth Ellis who was the last woman to be hanged in Britain.

Ellis shot and murdered her lover, David Blakely, outside a Hampstead pub on April 11, 1955.

The play looks at why Ellis was so keen to admit her guilt, but so reluctant to offer any defence.

Until it was too late she refused to name the person who gave her a loaded gun.

The Thrill Of Love, written by Amanda Whittington, will be performed at Bingley Arts Centre from March 2 to 7 at 7.30pm.

Bingley Little Theatre will present powerful, shocking and memorable First World War drama Journey’s End from April 13 to 18.
