JUMBLE sales with a difference are to be introduced to Keighley by a prodigal daughter from the town.

Former Keighley woman Rosalia Ferrara recently returned to the area after several years living in London.

While in the capital she set up a successful chain of retro fairs that became known as Jumble And Pearls.

Crowds flocked to the events, in venues such as historic old pubs, to browse through an eclectic range of vintage, designer and art items.

Rosalia has arranged Jumble And Pearls events in Haworth this spring and in Keighley’s Dalton Mills and Royal Arcade in the summer.

Rosalia was born in Keighley and moved to London in 1999, working in the PR industry, and she now has her own agency, Ferrara PR.

Jumbles And Pearls began about eight years ago, with stallholders ranging from people selling their unwanted clothes to business start-ups and artists or craftspeople selling their own pieces.

Rosalia said: “It started because I was keen in buying fashion and I had a lack of space. What do you do with things you’re sick of? I originally gave them to friends or charity.”

With two like-minded people Rosalia ran a “jumble sale with a bit more class” in Art Deco pubs, then after three years she switched to running ‘pop-up’ Jumble And Pearls events across London.

Rosalia’s first Jumble And Pearls event in the North will be at the Black Bull, Main Street, Haworth, on April 4, including a tarot reader and live music.

The next one will be on May 2, tying in with the Tour de Yorkshire cycle race, at West Lane Baptist Church in Haworth.

The Dalton Lane and Royal Arcade events are planned for June.

Anyone who wishes to have stalls at any of the events should contact Rosalia on Twitter at JumbleandPearls or on Facebook by searching for Jumble-and-Pearls.
