STEETON Male Voice Choir have given their first public concert of the year after two months of rehearsing.

The men celebrated St. David’s Day with a concert at Christchurch, Ilkley, and their first group of songs appropriately came from Wales.

Two women from Christchurch gave a Welsh dialogue and led the whole audience in singing the Welsh national anthem.

The Steeton singers’ next concert will be this Saturday (March 14) at Selby Abbey, raising money for the Selby District Council chairman’s chosen charities.

The joint concert, organised by Otley Brass, will feature works ranging from Myfanwy, The Colliers Requiem and I Vow To Thee My Country to pop song The Rose and I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside.

The choir has spaces available on the coach taking its members and supporters to Selby, costing £10 per place including ticket. E-mail tickets@steetonmvc.co.uk or call 01274 598221 for further information.
