Sing-a-long-a Sound Of Music – St George’s Hall
The Sound of Music is celebrating 50 years since Julie Andrews first took to the hills, and to celebrate the Sing-a-long-a show hit Bradford last Friday.
The Sound of Music is something that has been around for of my life from me first being introduced to the film as a child, seeing many stage performances, and being hooked when Andrew Lloyd-Webber was searching for his Maria.
But the Sing-a-long-a version was certainly different to anything that I could have imagined.
The show starts with a half-hour warm-up from the “8th Von Trapp child” Scottish Ashley.
She was a joy to watch and made everyone feel included within the banter as she demonstrated the actions to Doe A Deer, judged the fancy dress and gave us cues as to when to rejoice with the hills.
Every person watching the show is presented with a goody bag containing party poppers, eidelweiss, cue cards and of course a swatch of curtain material just to make the interactive experience a little more real.
Once everyone is laughing and in a jolly mood the main event begins: we get to watch the film and sing-a-long.
A light hearted and fun way to experience a classic film. Extremely enjoyable.
