THE AREA’S best Gilbert and Sullivan performers assemble for a performance of The Mikado this month.
The cast of Bingley Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s annual show usually includes familiar faces from Haworth’s annual G&S show.
They will be treading the boards again from April 20 to 25 in what is probably the best-known comic operetta written by the famous duo.
The Mikado is the ruler of Japan, and his son Nanki-Poo has fled the Imperial Court to escape marriage to an elderly woman.
Disguised as a travelling musician, he has fallen in love with Yum-Yum, the ward of a cheap tailor who herself was betrothed to her guardian.
This is just the start of convoluted comic capers at Bingley Arts Centre.
There will be a junior matinee performance at 3pm on the Saturday starring children from Lady Lane Park School.
