HEADLINING this month’s blues and roots night at the Black Bull in Haworth are the Diamond Dac Trio.
The band will be at the Main Street pub on Sunday (April 19) to play old-time, acoustic, traditional fingerpicking American roots blues from the 1920s and before.
During the 7.30pm gig they will recreate the sounds of Mississippi John Hurt, Blind Boy Fuller, Tampa Red Brownie McGee, Charlie Patton, Willie Walker, Robert Johnson and Bukka White.
Ben Waters, organiser of the blues and roots night, said the press had described Diamond Dac’s music as utterly infectious.
He said: “Their unique blend of instruments are complemented by their expressive vocals.
“This dynamic trio bring energy, excitement and enthusiasm to their music and delight audiences wherever they perform."
Also performing on Sunday are acoustic duo Strid, whose “impressive and eclectic” repertoire includes modern folk, blues, classic rock and Americana.
Ben said: “Combining rich vocal harmonies and a punchy guitar style, Strid have attracted many fans and bookings in Yorkshire and beyond.
“Jennie Kiff and Simon Allan perform unique versions of songs by Richard Thompson, Paul Simon, Lennon and McCartney, Tom Waits and many others.
“Jennie comes from a folk background but is equally at home with blues and jazz material.
“Simon played guitar and bass in a number of bands, has worked as a session musician, and also plays lead guitar in Rock Steady, a classic rock and blues band.”
Also performing will be blues singer-guitarist Ben and acoustic blues player Gerry Cooper.
