POPULAR duo Winter Wilson will appear at Keighley’s longest-established folk club the Baccapipes tomorrow. (May 1)

Winter Wilson are known across the UK acoustic music scene for fine original songs, stunning harmonies and spontaneous, off-the-wall humour.

Hailing from Lincolnshire, they are rapidly building a loyal following for music covering a range of styles, mainly with a folk-blues feel.

Their live performances are said to bring passion, intelligence, humour and "refreshing undertones of dry rebellion" to every gig.

Cutting Free, the latest of Winter Wilson's six critically acclaimed albums, was selected by the Daily Telegraph as one of its top 10 “fine folk albums” for last summer.

Kip Winter’s voice is said to deliver power and emotion in equal measure, described by one promoter as “from melting to belting”.

In the past she has sung everything from jazz to opera, but is at her happiest singing folk and blues.

Originating from the Outer Hebrides, she brings a wealth of folk history and stories from the Islands, together with a broader, blues-based approach. She plays piano accordion, flute and guitar.

Leading English acoustic songwriter Dave Wilson has had his songs covered by folk luminaries such as Vin Garbutt.

His lyrics are described as thought provoking, often challenging, but always beautifully crafted, and they are delivered in a mellow, relaxed singing style and some mean guitar playing.

The Baccapipes Folk Club is in Keighley Ukrainian Club at 9 Henry Street, off Cavendish Street, Keighley, every Friday from 8.30pm.
