ALTOGETHER entertaining – that’s the Bingley Amateurs production of The Full Monty next week.
The group will present the American-set musical version of Simon Beaufoy’s hit movie at Bingley Arts Centre.
The light-hearted story of a group of reluctant male strippers will be performed from Tuesday until Saturday.
The original film was the first successful movie for Glusburn-born screenwriter Beaufoy, who went on to write multi-award-winning movies Slumdog Millionaire and 157 Hours.
The Full Monty told the story of jobless Sheffield steelworkers who turned to stripping to make money for their families.
The writers of the musical version transplanted the story to America’s steel belt.
The new version retained the central story of a man separated from his wife who was desperately trying to be a good father to his young son.
Bingley Amateurs spokesman Jeff Peacock said: “From the opening ‘Chippendales’ sequence the story rocks along with pace.
“This show is produced and choreographed by Paul Nowland who is known for his exciting dance routines, and here the young cast really dazzles with Paul’s interpretation of the funky music score.
“It’s no surprise that seats are selling fast.”
The male strippers in the Bingley Amateurs production are played by Rob Durkin, Mike Riley, Matthew Mills, Jonny Tate, Jamie Rogers and Tim Sanderson.
Sharon Elliott and Theo O’Connolly play mother and son.
