Now That’s What I Call Classic Rock

FOR ME the term classic rock means loud ‘n’ proud anthems and ballads from the 70s by the likes of Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Slade.

But like the term ‘power ballads’, classic rock means a different thing to each generation, probably anything from the years they spent as real or closet headbangers.

This new three-disc compilation trawls everyone’s memory to bring up more than 60 tracks that powerfully proclaim their classic status.

While everyone will have their favourite era – many of mine hail from the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal in the early 80s – they’d be hard-pressed to dislike anything here from another person’s teenage playlist.

Alright, maybe I’m wrong, the Beastie Boys and Nickelback don’t hold an arms-aloft, encore-shining candle to the likes of Queen, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper and Thin Lizzy.

Whatever your taste, you’ve got to admit there’s nothing wimpy here, even Status Quo, Paul McCartney and U2 are at their rocking best.

From The Who, T.Rex and Kiss, through Robert Palmer and Bon Jovi to modern heroes like 30 Seconds To Mars and Bring Me The Horizon, this lot will make you wish you still had long hair.
