TROUBADOUR, balladeer and storyteller Ewan McClennan will perform at Skipton Folk Club on October 19.

Ewan is regarded as a guitarist at the forefront of his generation, despite performing in the old style.

His singing is said to move audiences with its passion and pathos and his songs showcase social justice as still a burning issue.

Ewan won the BBC Radio 2 Horizon Award, appeared on TV in the Transatlantic Sessions, and is now touring his latest album Stories Still Untold.

The Skipton performance will feature favourites from Ewan’s previous albums and collaborations, as well as new self-penned songs aired for the first time.

Ewan has worked with Martin Simpson and Dick Gaughan over recent years, absorbing skills from the older generation of ‘folk greats’.

A spokesman said: “Each song pulls you in and spins a new tale before giving way to the next – new songs and old songs, past and present, spanning several hundred years.”

Expect subtle yet powerful and earthy passion and a rare skill on the guitar.

Skipton Folk Club is in the Narrow Boat pub on Victoria Street, with doors opening at 8.30pm. Tickets cost £7 by calling 01535 665889.
