FEMALE choir Opus 44 have brought home prizes from another music festival.

The Bingley-based choir, which performs in Keighley on November 22, scored hat-trick success at the Biddulph and Moorlands Music Festival.

During the afternoon the women came second in the President's Ladies Choirs Trophy class with the set piece, an arrangement of What A Wonderful World, followed by an unsettling version of the spell from The Witches' Trio in Macbeth.

In the evening they conjured up an even better performance, beating six other choirs of all types and sizes to win the Choral Recital Trophy.

Choir member Fionna Pilgrim, from Keighley, said: "We started with Songbird which is fast-paced and light.

"Next, you could hear a pin drop as we sang Michael Neaum's moving setting of Psalm 46, Be Still And Know I Am With You, featuring two beautiful solo voices, my daughter Rosie Robinson, and Emma Offord.

“We then completed the programme with light-hearted arrangements of Dashing Away With The Smoothing Iron and Mr Sandman.

“It was fantastic to be placed first, but you know that you have sung well when you hear the audience laughter or gasps of appreciation."

The Opus 44, musical director musical director, Alison Pryce-Jones, won the trophy for Best Conductor.

Opus 44 will team up with Steeton Male Voice Choir on November 22 for a 2.30pm concert at the Octagon on Bradford Road, Sandbeds, in Keighley.

Opus 44 will sing carols on December 15 at Sainsbury’s in Keighley on December 15 at 6.30pm in aid of Manorlands.
