SETTLE Orchestra’s next concerts have been designed to appeal to all ages.

The orchestra begin with a family concert at Settle College on Saturday, November 21 – and to add to the atmosphere, many of the musicians will be in fancy dress.

The concert will begin at 7pm and last about one hour, with the programme featuring Humperdinck’s Overture to Hansel and Gretel, Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, and Wagner’s Ride Of The Valkyries.

There will also be music from Carmen (Bizet) and Star Wars: Phantom Menace (John Williams).

An orchestra spokesman said: “Some interesting characters will be appearing, and it is rumoured that there may even be a visit from Darth Vader!"

Admission is free and seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. They can be reserved in advance through the Settle Orchestra website, settleorchestra.org.uk

The orchestra’s second concert will take place at Christ Church, Skipton, on Saturday, November 28, at 7.30pm.

It will be an extended version of the family concert, with the addition of Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances Nos 5-8. These will be the first concerts under the baton of the orchestra’s new principal conductor, Ola Ness.

Tickets for this concert are £11 (accompanied children free) and are available from Cave and Crag, Bentham Post Office, Skipton Camera Centre and on the door at the concert.
