SKIPTON Choral Society will perform its autumn concert on Sunday, November 22 at the town’s Christ Church.
The first half will feature John Rutter’s Requiem with words from the Requiem mass and the Book of Common Prayer.
The second half will include pieces such as Purcell’s Thou Knowest, Lord, Joseph Kosma’s Autumn Leaves, Arthur Sullivan’s The Long Day Closes and Bob Chilcott’s The Lily And The Roles.
There will also be three traditional spirituals, Deep River, I’ve Been In The Storm and I’m Goin’ Up A-Yonder, plus the song Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ The Boat from the musical Guys And Dolls.
The 7.30pm presentation will be the choir’s first concert of its new musical director, Toby Wardman.
Toby joined the choir after 15 years conducting choirs and singing workshops across the North of England.
The graduate of York University is a composer and arranger, and took one of his groups to the final of a national choral festival.
