THE POPULAR Rock ‘n’ Roll Panto at City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds opens on November 27 and runs until January 10.
This year’s family offering Robin Hood And The Babes In The Wood will follow the hero as he tries to get the best of bad-guy the Sheriff of Nottingham.
He hopes to free the babes in the wood and their nanny, the wonderful Dame Nellie Nightnurse, while he and his merry men sing a series of classic songs played live on stage by the cast.
The show is crammed with covers with covers of hit songs by the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen, The Clash, Meatloaf and Bob Marley.
Robin Hood And The Babes in The Wood promises everything audiences would expect from a traditional family pantomime, such as slapstick comedy, audience interaction and outlandish costumes.
But it is accompanied by a rocking soundtrack and the annual ‘boulder fight’.
City Varieties general manager Ian Sime said: “The City Varieties pantomime has become a necessary-date-in-the-diary throughout the festive period.”
