GROOVY Happening hold its fourth Yuletide special on Saturday December 5.

As well as a host of performances there will be a Christmas present of £4,000 for Manorlands.

The money, proceeds from the past 12 months’ Happenings, makes a total of £16,600 for the Oxenhope hospice since the monthly event began.

Ann Wiles, one of the Groovy organisers, promised a true party line-up of favourite acts to get the punters dancing.

She said the Ruby Stone Sound Collective got together two years ago and performed covers by the likes of Joan Armatrading, Aretha Franklin, Rickie Lee Jones, Buggles, Boz Scaggs, Beth Heart, Fleetwood Mac and ELO.

She said: “They have all worked with various bands over the years so hopefully can all bring their own influences together to create a mixture of music to suit everyone.”

Members of Radio City have also played in bands for many years and now perform rock, pop and funk from the 60s to the present day.

Ann said: “They are now a locally well-known seven-piece Party Band playing private functions, weddings and pubs.

“Radio City played at last year’s sell-out Groovy New Year’s Eve party…what a good night that was!”

John Bruce, another experienced band musician, is now a solo singer acoustic act with a huge repertoire of music from folk to pop. He will join Radio City later on Saturday evening.

Groovy Happening is at Parkside Social Club, Butt Lane, Haworth, from 7.30pm, with a rattle and late disco. Admission £3.
