CRAFTY Christmas is the title of a workshop on Saturday, December 5 at the Brontë Parsonage Museum.

The Haworth museum will show people how to make Christmas decorations during the family workshop from 11am to 4pm.

Visitors will be able to make traditional wreaths for their front doors during workshops on December 12.

The morning session is sold out, but there may still be a space on the second workshop running from 2pm to 4.15pm.

This year’s special exhibition at the museum, entitled The Brontës, War And Waterloo, will continue to run through the festive season until January 3.

The European battlefields lay far from the parsonage dining room, but the Brontës were captivated by the Napoleonic conflicts.

They read military accounts in newspapers and periodicals – and from the miniature books of their childhood to the adult novels, violence and brutality permeate the Brontës’ work.

Also at the museum is Linger, a music installation comprising a set of six new piano pieces composed for and performed on Emily Brontë's piano by Irish contemporary classical composer Ailís Ní Ríain.

Visitors to the museum are invited to dwell in quiet contemplation and thought.
