AN EVENING with G&T promises to be a tasty tipple as actors George Costigan and Tim-Pigott Smith unite in Halifax.

Northern actor George Costigan is known for such hits as Happy Valley, Rita, Sue and Bob Too, and Shirley Valentine, while classical actor Tim Pigott-Smith was in movies V For Vendetta, Johnny English and Gangs of New York.

They unite on February to entertain an audience at the Square Chapel Centre for the Arts with their favourite prose, plays, poetry and songs.

The evening will also include an exclusive short play written and directed by fellow Square Chapel patron, Sally Wainwright, the Yorkshire writer responsible for Last Tango In Halifax, Happy Valley and Scott & Bailey.

George Costigan is currently filming for Happy Valley series two for the BBC.

He said: “The very first television part I ever played was in Howard Springs' Fame Is The Spur back in 1977, co-starring with Tim Pigott-Smith.

“The latest television part I've had is Nevison Gallagher in Happy Valley written by Sally Wainwright.”

The British classical stage and TV actor Tim Pigott-Smith, who won a BAFTA Award for Best Actor for his part in The Jewel in The Crown, will be in Halifax straight after playing the title role in the Broadway production of King Charles III.
