LEADING musicians from two of the UK’s favourite blues bands are playing Keighley on Friday, March 11.

Ben Tyzack and Guy Tortora are uniting to headline Keighley Blues Club from 7.30pm at the Hall of Fame Bar at Cougar Park.

Ben usually performs with Spikedrivers while Guy fronts his own Guy Tortora Band.

A Blues Club spokesman says: “Combine their outstanding talents, add an array of guitars, some harmonies and a few musical surprises, and you’re guaranteed a soulful, rootsy performance that will light up the stage.

“This rare performance of the two together is not to be missed.”

Ben was born in London, but raised in the deep south of the United States, and his musical style reflects these experiences.

His guitar playing is described as an intoxicating blend; from the raw delta blues of Robert Johnson to the powerful soundscapes of Jimmy Page.

This, combined with a soulful voice and commanding stage presence, completes the picture of a very unique artist.

Guy was born and raised in Pasadena, California, and is currently based in London.

The Blues Club spokesman said: “What Guy does as a songwriter and performer is what people like to call ‘Americana’ these days.

“It’s hard term to define, as it seems to mean different things, depending on who you’re talking to.

“If to you, it means original songs, well-constructed and well performed, in some of the various musical styles that originated in the USA, as well as interpreting the work of other writers with depth and feeling, then you should check him out now.”

Tyzack and Tortora will play their own material along with classics by Blind Blake, JJ Cale, Sleepy John Estes and many more.

The Ginjammers said to be ideal for anyone who is a fan of the Coen Bros. film Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?.

They are veterans of the acoustic stage at the Great British R&B Festival in Colne.

The club spokesman said: “Armed only with two guitars, two voices and a harmonica, Pete and Hazel bring along a big bag of songs ranging from hillbilly mountain music to foot-stomping country-blues.”
