ACTOR and musician Martin Kemp can be seen at King’s Hall in Ilkley on May 17.

Many people will know Martin from the varied aspects of his long and successful career.

He achieved global success as part of the iconic band Spandau Ballet, who enjoyed multiple UK Top 10 hits including Gold, Only When You Leave and the number one smash True.

Martin’s acting skills were critically acclaimed in the major hit film The Krays in which he starred alongside his brother Gary.

Following this, he appeared in many high profile roles in the United States, including Highlander – The Series.

In his role as Steve Owen in BBC1’s EastEnders, Martin enjoyed explosive story lines and won many awards, including three TV Quick Awards, a National Television Award and five British Soap Awards.

Martin won many new fans when he took part in Celebrity Big Brother and recently appeared in ITV’s comedy Birds of a Feather.

At King’s Hall, Martin will speak about how he overcame the personal challenges of a benign brain tumour to being a TV, film and music legend.

There will be an opportunity for the audience to put their own questions to Martin.

Giles Brandreth, the wit and word-meister, former MP and star of Just A Minute, The One Show, QI, Have I Got News For You and Room 101, will perform at King’s Hall on May 16.

Brandreth’s previous two shows were both sell-outs and his new offering Word Power! is said to be just as engaging and boisterous.

Brandreth is a word fanatic.

As the founder of the National Scrabble Championships and president of the Association of British Scrabble Players, he has appeared on every word-based radio and TV game show and is a regular visitor to Countdown’s Dictionary Corner.
