POPULAR covers will warm up the audience for a nostalgic gig at Keighley's Octagon on May 13.

Bitter Sweet are providing support for the band 69 made up of better musicians who played in bands in the late 1960s.

The 69 repertoire includes Love Affair hits like Everlasting Love, newly-unveiled songs, and classic rock and blues standards.

Bitter Sweet, meanwhile promise “great music from ska through to rock, from Janis Joplin to Chic”.

A spokesman said: “We deliver what is now a very eclectic set. One thing is undoubtable, it all comes from the soul.”

Bitter Sweet are fronted by aunt niece Jayne and Jessica Chippendale.

Jayne, who lives in Cullingworth, has been singing for over 30years, while Jessica joined the band recently.

The spokesman said: “It’s plain to see they share the same talent and passion for singing.

“Forsyth Hill, the Scots man from Leeds, plays bass guitar and Stuart Allison plays lead guitar. Both, along with drummer Roy Fontaine are founder members of the band.

“To add a little bit of international spice, Joe Palinkas from Hungary, a very accomplished musician, plays keyboards.”

Bitter Sweet started life as Hoi Polloi, playing covers by Kings of Leon, The Killers and The Fratellis, but broadened their horizons.
