ARTEMIS Theatre Company will portray the stories of LGBT asylum seekers at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield on May 17.

Rights Of Passage is based on interviews with people who travelled to the UK from anti-gay countries where their lives were under threat.

Some had lived undocumented lives for many years, and had to seek the knowledge and courage to apply to the Home Office for asylum.

The play is described as harrowing yet hopeful, and the UK Lesbian and Gay Immigration Group said it was “the most powerful and accurate portrayal of LGBT refugee stories” ever seen.

The playwright, Clare Summerskill, is a writer, actress and comedian.
