VISITOR attractions in Ingrow and Haworth are again taking part in the national Museums at Night initiative.

People attending the Vintage Carriages Trust's museum at Ingrow railway station will be serenaded with live music from tonight through to Saturday.

The Brontë Parsonage Museum will stay open late tomorrow for stories with a wartime theme to tie in with the Haworth 1940s Weekend.

Museums at Night is an event designed to make museums accessible to people who would not be able to get there during normal opening hours.

The Museum of Rail Travel, run by the Vintage Carriages Trust, has taken part in the initiative for several years.

Spokesman, Jim Pickles, said: “Following on from successes in previous years, the evenings will include musical backdrops to the exhibits.

“On Thursday [today], local singer/songwriter Sarah Widdup will be performing an acoustic set, supported by Debbie and Ian.

“On Friday, Haworth Ukulele Group will provide an eclectic mix of music, and local acoustic singers and musicians are invited to perform in an informal sing-around/session on Saturday.”

The music will begin at 7.30pm each evening, and admission to the museum is free.

The Brontë Parsonage Museum arranges special events every year to coincide with Museums at Night.

The Haworth museum will be open from 6.30pm to 8pm tomorrow for an event entitled Sharing Stories From Wartime.

A spokesman said: “Join us for an evening of tales of childhood courage and wartime adventure, told in the historic rooms by candlelight at the start of Haworth 1940s Weekend.”

The event is free to all visitors providing evidence of living in the BD22, BD21 or BD20 postcode areas or in Thornton. The museum’s normal admission prices apply to all other visitors.
