HAWORTH looks set to have the authentic sounds when it revives its 1960s weekend this summer.

Organisers are talking to Bingley band 69 – who make their debut this week in Keighley – about playing a gig during the June 25/26 event.

The 69ers are three musicians who started out in the 60s including Mick Jackson who that decade played with chart toppers Love Affair.

Bass player Mick was one of the musicians who in 1968 helped make Everlasting Love a worldwide hit that went on to sell millions of copies.

He recently teamed up with two other musicians to play songs he wrote during Love Affair’s heyday but never recorded or played live.

Bingley-based guitarist and music producer Dave Johnson recently worked in the David Bowie tribute band Speed Jive and in the nationally famous theatre show That’ll Be The Day.

Keighley-born Alastair Harnby - also a Bingley resident - played in a number of rock bands in the early 1980s including Exit 13.

The trio called their band 69 to reflect the period that Mick dubs “the ultimate year in the British music industry”, and recorded his songs on the album 69 One More Time.

The band will play the Octagon, on Bradford Road, Sandbeds, on Friday May 13 from 7.30pm, with their extensive set list including mix originals, updated 60s rock and blues classics, and Love Affair hits.
