CRAVEN Accordion Orchestra is opening its doors to the public next week to launch its new CD.

The orchestra will perform at Sutton Village Hall on Tuesday, July 5, from 7.45pm.

Internationally-known musician Bob Nevin will lead the Cross Hills-based orchestra playing tracks from the new CD and new material.

There will be refreshments and the chance to buy the new CD, which is entitled Music.

The orchestra will also lead six weeks of accordion activities starting on Tuesday, July 26 at Sutton Village Hall.

A spokesman said: “These sessions are an invitation to all ages and abilities with a desire to participate on the accordion.”

The CD is the third to be produced by the Craven Accordion Orchestra and marks 25 years since the musicians came together as a social group, going on to win the UK accordion championships.

The orchestra were guided by guest musical director Mr Nevin throughout the latest recording session.

Bob joined the Army as a musician in 1982, going on to serve in several military hands, and as tenor tuba player with several European Symphony Orchestras.

He now arranges and conducts for various local bands.

The spokesman said: “A cocktail of musical delights feature on the CD such as music by John Miles, Liberty Bell and Florentina March, film music from The Magnificent Seven and Titanic, traditional waltzes and tangos... a real mixture for all.”
