EIGHTIES hit-makers Lloyd Cole And The Leopards will play Holmfirth Picturedrome on August 18.

The performance will be a warm-up show for the Rewind Festival and a rare appearance with a full band by Lloyd.

Lloyd Cole And The Commotions burst onto the scene in 1984 with Perfect Skin, Forest Fire and their era-defining album Rattlesnakes.

They went from Glasgow clubs to stadiums in 18 months, hits like Lost Weekend and Brand New Friend propelling second number one Easy Pieces to the upper reaches of the album charts all over the world.

One last album Mainstream and a final single Jennifer She Said, and in 1989 the band had gone.

Lloyd launched a solo career the following year and has been making albums ever since.

In the early 2000s he retreated from rock/pop, performing mostly acoustically, but his 2013 album Standards showcased a brash electric rock 'n' roll sound.

Since then he’s been performing with old Glasgow pals The Leopards – Mick Slaven and Campbell Owens – supplemented by ex-Commotion Blair Cowan on keyboards.
