IT’S TAKEN seven years but comedy compere Chris Brooker is finally stepping into the limelight.

Chris has been the resident MC for Keighley Comedy Club first at the Cricketers Arms and lately at the Cafe Choux Choux.

On Thursday, August 25 he will perform his first solo show in the town, at the Choux Choux in a gig starting at 8.30pm.

Chris said he had introduced dozens of amazing acts to a club that had forged a reputation as one of the best in the country.

A spokesman said: “This Canadian-born, Somerset-raised comedian has been treading the boards of comedy clubs professionally around the UK and beyond for just shy of seven years.

“In this time he's gained a reputation as a fantastic act with a flair for ad libbing and improvisation. Juvenile glee mixed with tall tales and turns of phrase that have cemented his place in the comedy pantheon.

“In this particular show he'll also be exploring his relationship with Keighley, the Yorkshire town that nobody can pronounce that has been his home from home every month for the duration of his full-time career in the comedy trade.”

Support will be provided by Freddy Quinne, described as one of the standout stars of the north west in recent years as well as a phenomenal MC in his own right.

The Manchester-based comedian will present uniquely-northern observational humour and clever, well-placed gags, with frantic energy, raw emotion and a vulnerable persona.

Chris said he had decided to perform a full set after Keighley Comedy Club regulars had asked time and time again for him to do more than just host.

Tickets are available from the Cafe Choux Choux on Keighley railway station forecourt, the Cricketers' Arms on Coney Lane, or by calling 01535 958017.
