A NEW style of calligraphy has come to Bradford for an autumn exhibition.

Breathing Calligraphy by noted artist Razwan Ul-Haq is an exhibition dedicated to Islamic calligraphy.

Ul-Haq, known known for running Islamic Art in schools for many years, has set out to capture what he calls “'the spiritual significance of the Islamic calligraphic aesthetic".

Passionate about engaging people, he has written for teacher magazines and regularly contributes to education conferences.

After travelling to the Middle East, Ul-Haq went on to pioneer a calligraphic form that draws from the minimalist tradition in Islamic Art, contemporary artists and near Eastern calligraphy.

He has also written novels including Sultan vs Dracula which the India Muslim Observer called one of the more challenging pieces of literature to come out of 2012 Britain.

Kala Sangam is a Bradford-based national organisation for South Asian arts, culture and heritage.

The exhibition will run until October 22 at Kala Sangam Arts Centre, St Peter's House, Forster Square, Bradford. The arts centre is open on weekdays from 9am to 5pm and admission is free.
